Range Seeking Truth & Utility

Range is one's ability to see the adjacent possible. Range sits within the idea that reality, time and perception combine to create a “constant  gap” of known and unknown differences. Building range is about forging robust meaning making systems founded on a wide spectrum of experiences and perspectives. That different perspectives offer different values, and when we can combine them they assist the other through an alternate angle; making all of the vantage points valuable to seeking truth and utility.

A clear example comes from the Black Panther Party. They recognized that children arriving at school hungry struggled to focus and learn, so they launched the Free Breakfast Program. They addressed other linked challenges by opening health clinics, offering legal aid, creating educational programs, and organizing community self-defense. While most groups focused on single issues, the Panthers connected housing, healthcare, education, and justice into one approach. Their breakfast model spread to schools nationwide, and their community health framework shaped public programs across the country. Their focus on a range of solutions helped  build systems that worked.
